When it comes to grilling, most people think only of the grill itself. Sure, the grill is important - without it, barbecuing would not exist. But when it comes to perfectionist grilling, the hobby of many suburban men and women, there are other essential pieces of equipment. Even the grills themselves are available in a range of sizes and accessories - some are fueled by propane while others rely on the traditional fuels of wood and charcoal.

However, some of the most important weapons for any griller are stainless steel BBQ tools. Barbecuing is no longer just about throwing a few slabs of meat on the grill—now it is an art form. Almost any dish can be prepared on a grill, almost any food group, but cooking with such precession is not possible without the proper equipment. Stainless steel BBQ tools are the epitome of style, function and precision, and they can make any griller’s dreams come true, and keep his or her family salivating at the thought of dinner.

Cooking with Science and Art

Stainless steel BBQ tools are some of the best BBQ tools available on the market. Stainless steel itself is coveted for utensils of any kind, especially for a barbecue. Grilling outdoors is not always under sunny skies - sometimes it rains, and sometimes it snows, as barbecuing is not reserved for summertime.

Even for grills on porches or in enclosed areas, moisture is still a problem, both from the food and cooking itself and during washing. Stainless steel does not rust, and it stands up to the natural environment better than any other kind of metal. Stainless steel BBQ tools usually come in sets, ranging from three pieces to over twenty. Tongs, forks and knives and the staple tools, but some sets include corncob holders, skewers and even brushes.

Stainless steel BBQ tools also come in a variety of styles. Some have wooden handles, while others have rubber handles for better grips. The sizes vary according to the needs of the griller - smaller tools are better for smaller hands, but tools with longer handles may be necessary for larger grills so the griller stays protected from the flames.

Wooden handles can be plain or fancy, carved or smooth, and the finishes vary from light to dark. The tools can even be chosen to match the rest of the grill, especially if it is a large unit with wooden accents. Some stainless steel BBQ tools are steel all the way through, but the risk with these tools as that the handles may heat up from the flames.

Cooking is perhaps one of the most fulfilling and satisfying forms of recreation, as well as necessary means of surviving. One may not cook any edible food as it is, but the increase of health related sickness due to contamination of uncooked food has made cooking an important process of daily living. Usually, people eat the basic three square meals, accompanied with three cooking session before that. It may be a tedious chore for others, but for some it becomes a hobby.

Different styles in cooking are done, from the simple boiling to the outdoor barbecuing to the more complex gourmet cooking. For people at home, Cooking is at the convenience of all the available equipment and utensils. For BBQ enthusiasts, a grill or a gas stove is their gadget. It would definitely be uncomfortable to bring any of these gadgets when they have to go on outdoor trips, let alone the awkward looks on the companions’ faces as these equipments are lugged around.

It was not difficult for some ingenious minds to create a smaller and lightweight version and come up with a portable gas BBQ. This small wonder in cooking meant that anyone could enjoy a good BBQ even when they are away from home. A portable gas BBQ was not only an advent of a better cooking experience, but was a good way to continue enjoying the feel of home away from home.

In a Nutshell

The idea of a portable gas BBQ is simple. It had a smaller gas tank to provide fuel for cooking. Secured into the side of a portable gas BBQ, the gas tank unfortunately had limited time for cooking due to the limited volume it could carry fuel. Nevertheless, the portable gas BBQ’s canister like gas tank could be refitted with extra tanks at the convenience of portability.

The whole housing of a portable gas BBQ is made from lightweight materials. Usually in the form similar to that of a small pizza box, much of the surface of the portable gas BBQ is used for the placement of food to be cooked, while a small portion is for the heat resistant fuel canister. Again with its smaller size, the amount of food which can be cooked at any given time is greatly diminished and would not be suitable for large group feeding. Nevertheless, the portable gas BBQ is a very nifty and wonderful addition to things to be brought along camping trips for personal consumption.

When the weather begins to get nice outside, most people start thinking about various outdoor activities that they enjoy. It’s a time when people begin planning outings with family and friends and coworkers. Whether it’s a day at the beach, a ballgame, or a camping trip, portable BBQ grills can add enjoyment to any activity. Here are some things to look for when you are purchasing a portable BBQ grill.

What to Look for

With portable BBQ grills, the idea is to be able to bring the great taste of grilled food on the road with you and still have the convenience of being able to pack light. These units are great because most of them are designed for just this purpose.

Portable BBQ grills come in a variety of shapes and sizes, so it’s important to find one that is lightweight for easy transport. You don’t want to go camping or to the beach with a grill that it takes two people to carry. You also want one that is compact enough to allow for easy packing. If you’ll be traveling with it a lot, you want it to take up as little space as possible. Generally, if the unit is 40 pounds or less, you should be alright.

Portable BBQ grills also come equipped with a variety of different options for cooking surfaces. Obviously, you’ll want to buy a unit that can handle any food you are going to want to prepare. Be careful, though, to keep it on the small side, or you’ll be defeating the purpose of a portable BBQ grill.

Also, if you’re camping or at the beach, the last thing you want to do is spend the day scrubbing and scouring the surface of your grill. With this in mind, make sure you choose a cooking surface that is non-stick and easy to clean. This will allow you to get out and enjoy more of the day with family and friends.

Another thing you want to consider is what kind of activities the grill will be used for. It may be that you will only be cooking for yourself, or you and one other person. If this is the case, there are plenty of models available that have very small cooking areas that are perfect for this.

Make sure you go with a larger model if you will be cooking for an entire family or a group of people. Otherwise, you will spend the entire afternoon cooking because the grill isn’t large enough to put enough food on it. The right size grill will allow you to spend your time doing what you came out there for in the first place.

Many times, a name can be misleading. For example - rocky mountain oysters are as far from seafood as they are from the ocean. In fact, many foods are rather misnamed, and these misnomers can confuse customers into ordering something they may not really like. This happens a lot with foods labeled as barbecue.

Barbecue itself usually refers to a grill, but sometimes it can refer to a type of sauce. This sauce, smothered on anything, anytime, can transform any food into barbecue, even though it may never have touched the surface of a grill. On the other hand, the New Orleans-style barbecue shrimp is actually baked, not grilled - a barbecue has nothing to do with it. In a similar vein, Mongolian BBQ, an increasingly-popular style of cooking, is as far from barbecue as possible, but quite tasty.

A Confusing Choice

Mongolian BBQ is a style of cooking often found in restaurants. Meats and vegetables are stir-fried on a large iron griddle, cooked at temperatures as high as 300 degrees Celsius. Originating from Taiwan, the style of cooking is neither Mongolian nor barbecue, and is, in many ways, a completely unique, but misnamed, cooking style.

New to the restaurant world, Mongolian BBQ first appeared in Taiwan near the end of the 20th century. The stir-frying style is meant to evoke the spirit and technique of Mongolian cuisine, but it more closely resembles traditional Japanese cooking. Many restaurants, however, have perpetuated the myth of the Mongolian BBQ, claiming that the soldiers of the Mongol Empire prepared food with their swords and cooked them on their shields, overturned and placed over a large fire.

In a restaurant setting, diners choose their Mongolian BBQ ingredients from a buffet - a large collection of thinly-sliced meats and vegetables. They then bring their ingredients in a bowl or on a plate to the griddle cook, and can ask for any number of special sauces and seasonings. Each bowl of food is stir-fried on a different part of the griddle, and when the meal is finished, it is returned to the bowl and returned to the diner.

Mongolian BBQ restaurants are popular throughout Taiwan. In the United States, this style of cooking is usually found at Chinese buffet restaurants - however, some restaurants specialize in Mongolian BBQ, preferring it over traditional Chinese offerings. Some restaurant chains have even spread throughout Europe and into the Middle East, spreading this misnamed style of cooking from one side of the globe to the other.

If you are one of those people who are always on the go and have no time to prepare your food at home, you should try eating at an outdoor Korean BBQ restaurant every now and then with some of your friends. Korean BBQ is really a treat after a long and stressful day at the office. Moreover, eating outdoors is also very good to unwind and relax after office hours.

Finding the Best Korean Barbecue Restaurants Nearest You

The best way to find the best Korean BBQ restaurant nearest you is to read reviews from your local newspapers and magazines. If some of your friends have been to a few barbecue restaurants in your area, ask them which barbecue restaurants serve the best food.

You should also ask them about the prices of the food served in these restaurants. Although most restaurants accept credit cards, you should never just walk into these places and charge everything into your credit card. Remember that you have to pay for all the things that you charge to your card. If you don’t want to end up with a pile of debts that you can hardly pay, be careful about your spending.

Going for Barbecue

When going out with your friends to an outdoor Korean BBQ restaurant, you should bring a hat with you even if it’s already evening. Why? The delicious smell of Korean BBQ sticks to your hair long after you leave the restaurant. If you don’t want your hair to smell like Korean BBQ, hide your hair under a hat. No, you will not look ridiculous wearing a hat in an outdoor Korean BBQ restaurant.

A lot of people wear hats in these kinds of places to keep hair from smelling like barbecue. In fact, some barbecue restaurants offer hats to their clients to protect their hair. Besides, if all of the patrons in the restaurants wear hats while eating at the barbecue restaurants, you will not really look out of place. Just think of the whole thing as a kind of unique tradition that you have to observe while eating barbecue.

If you are planning to go somewhere else after eating at a Korean BBQ restaurant, you better wear a jacket. The smell of barbecue will cling to your clothes if you don’t wear a jacket over your clothes. If you don’t want to wear a jacket, you better bring some extra clothes with you so that you can change your clothes before you go somewhere else after dinner.

The history on BBQ starts back with the origin of the word. Whether you call it BBQ, barbecue, or barbeque, it all came from the same place. Many etymologists believe that the history on BBQ starts with the Caribbean word barabicu. This word roughly translates in English to sacred fire pit. The modern definition of BBQ is either the type of meal that is being served, or the grill on which it is cooked.

Origins

The history on BBQ seems to begin in the area of the Caribbean. This is where the origin of the word began, and then it was carried over to Spanish. Once in the Spanish language, it spread throughout Europe finding a place in the French and English language.

A myth about the history on BBQ comes from a story that is told about old roadhouses. These roadhouses used to advertise “Bar, Beer, and Cues” to refer to pool. It might be true that the roadhouses advertised in this way, but there is no evidence that this is how the food got its name.

The Real History

Cooking meat the way that constitutes BBQ had been going on since the dawn of man. Once people began eating animals like pigs, cows, and chickens, people have been roasting, baking, and grilling them over open fire. The history on BBQ starts back all the way before gas grills were even invented.

The food style, however, received origins later on, around the seventeenth century. This type of cooking was believed to have originated in North Carolina. BBQ became a staple of the a soldier’s diet during the Civil War era. Whole towns would get together to BBQ a pig or two to share with the soldiers and townsfolk. This is where the tradition of southern BBQ was born.

The Sauce

No one is quite sure where the origins of BBQ sauce cam from. The history on BBQ is less than telling on this aspect of the BBQ cooking style. It might have come from the curing process before the invention of refrigeration. Most curing processes used vinegar, but in the area of South Carolina, people would also add mustard and other spices in order to better flavor the meat.

No matter what kind of BBQ you enjoy, it is always fun and interesting to know where your style of cooking has come from. Whether you are southern, northern, eastern, or western, BBQ is one food that anyone in America can appreciate and enjoy.

If you’re thinking of purchasing a new BBQ grill, there are many things to take into consideration. The biggest question you have to ask yourself is which type to buy – gas or charcoal. The debate about which one is best has gone on for many years, and will continue to go on long after you read this article. Each has its benefits and it’s disadvantages. We’ll try to look at a few of these below to help you decide which one is better for you.

Benefits of Gas BBQ Grills

Gas BBQ grills have several benefits that make them an attractive choice. The first would have to be safety. There seems to be less accidents involving gas BBQ grills than with charcoal. They are also much cleaner and easy to clean than charcoal grills. There is no dealing with the dust and grime that comes with handling charcoal. One of the most popular advantages of using gas BBQ grills is that they are easier to use.

All you need to do in most cases is turn on the gas and press the igniter and you’re on your way. There is also no smoke to deal with when cooking with a gas BBQ grill. They’re are also more forgiving than charcoal grills because you can regulate the heat better for more precise cooking. Charcoal grilling is more like cooking over a campfire where it’s easier to over or under cook your food. You can also start cooking as soon as you turn it on instead of waiting around for it to heat up like you would with a charcoal grill.

Benefits of Charcoal Grills

Probably the biggest advantage that charcoal has over gas BBQ grills is the taste of the food. This is because of one of the reasons we listed above for the gas grills. The smoke that is produced by charcoal gives the food a distinct flavor that many people enjoy. However, some people complain that food cooked on a charcoal grill often tastes like lighter fluid.

Charcoal grills are often smaller and more portable than gas BBQ grills, which makes them better for taking along on camping trips and other outdoor activities. In the end, it doesn’t matter what anyone says about either of these grills, the choice is yours. Basically, it will be a matter of personal preference and what type of cooking you will be doing. Either one will add to the overall experience of your outdoor activities.

There are very few of us who can resist the smell of barbecue coming from an outdoor grill, especially if the grill is coming from our own backyard. Add the pool, the margaritas and soft jazz in the background and life is very good indeed. What makes this scene even better is if the scent is coming from a brick BBQ that you have built for yourself. Brick BBQ’s are a beautiful addition to anyone’s back yard and it is a home project that is attainable and gives you a sense of accomplishment when it is completed.

Location and Preparation

The first thing you must do after you have decided to build your own brick BBQ is decide where to put it. It is smart to have your barbecue close to the house since you will be carrying food and utensils from within the house out to it. Normally, we all forget a few things when barbecuing so you know you will have to make extra trips into the kitchen and very soon those trips inside and back out are going to get very long.

Try and figure out which way the wind normally blows so you don’t pick a spot where the chef is going to get smoke directly into his face or into the house. You will also want to keep your brick BBQ away from fences, buildings and overhanging trees. Always keep your barbecue on relatively level ground. A good base for your brick BBQ would be large pavers that are laid on a bed of sand or you can dig a pit and install a wooden form along the inside of the hole and then pour concrete. This is the best base for a new brick BBQ.

Design

Your next step is to design your brick BBQ. Be sure your BBQ is at a comfortable height and the firebox is only a few inches below. You will also want to include one or two shelves so you can keep your grilling paraphernalia close at hand when cooking. You can make your BBQ as fancy as you want, but the most beautiful and most useful brick BBQ grills are the most simple ones. You don’t want anything to stand in the way of good flavor, not even good looks.

It might be a great idea to check with the local BBQ store to see if they have any pre-made brick BBQ plans that you can purchase. If you follow the directions to one these plans explicitly you will undoubtedly have a beautiful and very useful brick BBQ. It doesn’t take long to construct a BBQ but the time goes much faster if you decide to make it a party affair. Of course, start and finish the project before the case of beer is opened and perhaps you will be cooking dinner on it before the stars come out. Brick BBQ’s are fun home projects and if you are handy at home and enjoy grilling it might be a project that you might really enjoy undertaking.

Some people just cannot leave home without their special BBQ recipe. But if you are traveling somewhere that you can’t cook your BBQ, what will you do? The simple and easiest choice for your BBQ fix is to find a BBQ concession trailer.

These will usually be located at local fairs and other summer events. But if you have a great BBQ recipe of your own, why don’t you share it with the world? You can make a lot of money and travel to many places with BBQ trailers.

The Great Road Trip

Buying BBQ trailers might be a serious decision to make, but if you are true to the art of BBQ, you will never be able to keep up with the demand for your special recipes from your BBQ trailers. Not only can you make a good amount of money from selling food out of BBQ trailers, you can also get to see the country.

You can travel around all over your state and beyond getting jobs at fairs festivals, and other community gatherings. BBQ trailers are made special to accommodate and serious BBQ cook. The equipment inside and out is top notch. You won’t find another kind of concession trailer built better than BBQ trailers.

BBQ trailers are a serious investment, so make sure you weigh the pros and cons before you make your purchase. It the long run, it will most likely be a successful summer business for you. It can be a yearlong business for you if you live in a warm climate.

But if you are not prepared before you go out on your first job, you may run into some problems. If you know the type of event you will be working, make sure you can get an idea of how many people will show up. It’s not realistic to think that everyone will want food from you, but it is better to be prepared than be caught off guard.

Make sure you have enough preparations to serve at least eighty percent of the total expected crowd. This way, you are sure to have at least enough for the people who want it, and maybe more.

If you are caught without enough food for most people, the crowd will get frustrated and if the same people see you at the next event, they may just avoid you because the know you will run out of food before they ever get to the front of the line. BBQ trailers are a great investment. If you are ready to share your BBQ with the world, go ahead!
